Walk & Talk Therapy
At In Mind Therapy, we believe that healing can happen in many different environments, and sometimes a change of scenery can be just as therapeutic as a traditional therapy session. Our Walk and Talk Therapy offers an opportunity for clients to engage in therapy while walking outdoors in nature or around a designated space.
This unique form of therapy combines the benefits of physical activity with the reflective space of a therapy session, allowing you to move, breathe, and explore your thoughts in a more dynamic and relaxed setting.

How it Works
We will meet at a chosen location such as a park or neighbourhood that you are comfortable with. We’ll walk at a pace that suits you and allows you space to talk and reflect. You always have the option to switch back and forth between in-office and Walk and Talk sessions whenever you would like. The flexibility is up to you and what works best for you.
-
During your session, we’ll walk together, providing you with the space to express yourself while also allowing the body to release tension and anxiety through gentle movement.
-
Walking outdoors offers the added benefits of fresh air, natural surroundings, and exposure to green spaces, all of which can help improve mood and reduce stress.
-
Like traditional therapy, Walk and Talk sessions are tailored to your personal needs. Whether you’re processing emotions, working through a challenge, or simply reflecting on life’s journey, the walk serves as a grounding element in the therapeutic process.
-
Many clients find that walking while talking helps them feel more relaxed and open, often leading to deeper insights or a more free-flowing conversation.

Confidentiality is a top priority in therapy. However, participating in Walk and Talk therapy in public or semi-public spaces does come with some limits to confidentiality, as there is a possibility that others might overhear parts of the conversation. To minimize this risk, your therapist will choose quieter, less crowded locations for your walk, maintain a safe distance from others, and may use verbal cues to pause the conversation if necessary if someone approaches.
Before starting Walk and Talk therapy, you and your therapist will discuss any concerns you may have about confidentiality and decide together how to manage potential risks.
-
No, it’s not necessary to walk the entire session. Some clients prefer to sit on a bench or rest during the session. The key is to be flexible and allow the session to flow naturally in the outdoor environment.
